LOCUS 16TH NATIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL FESTIVAL

LOCUS is organizing 16th National Technological Festival.
Every year LOCUS conducts many skill development programs, competitive hardware, software and electrical events among students from various national level colleges as well as non-competitive events like exhibition, seminars, paper presentation, gaming competitions, simulation competition and many more providing a platform for interaction and healthy competition among creative minds in technical fields and marketing management.

There will be the following events:-

ROBOLOCUS

This is a new initiation of LOCUS as a High School Level Roboccon (Check out website of Abu Robocon). Each participating team come up with a fully functional robot to complete task assigned in the game field. Judging criteria is completely unbiased and solely based on rulebook which is included in the official website of LOCUS with video, theme and animation video.
Entry fee: Rs.1500
Team: 4-6 individuals
Prizes: NRs. 20,000 (Winner) and NRs. 10,000 (Runner Up) along with certificates and medals.

+2 QUIZ

Encouraging High school students to exhibit their IQ, LOCUS 2019 presents +2 Level Quiz.
Entry fee: Rs. 2500
Team: 2 individuals
Prizes: NRs. 10,000 (Winner) and NRs. 5,000 (Runner Up) along with certificates, trophy and medals and special gift hampers.

PROJECT COMPETITION

Hardware, Software and Electrical projects are showcased by students during the main exhibition of LOCUS. Projects are evaluated by a judging panel of field experts. LOCUS 2019’s theme is ‘Rural Development using ICT’ and students are required to demonstrate their idea along with prototype in any of the approaches as software or hardware. Categories for prizes are: Thematic, Open, Most Applicable, Young Innovation (+2), People’s Choice, Instrumentation

Team: 4 individuals
Prizes: NRs. 15,000 (Each Category Winner)

LOCUS CODE CAMP

This is an idea pitching and software project development competition organized as one of the main events in exhibition. This is a two days event in which idea pitching, mentor assignment, prototype development, presentation and questionnaires, and winner announcement are conducted. Theme is released weeks earlier and interested groups apply with their proposed idea. Selected candidates are then called for the event as competitors.

TECH DEBATES

Tech Debates 2019 is a debate competition being organized as a pre-event of Locus 2019. It aims to bring together debaters from different levels to debate in various topics in Technology in British Parliamentary (BP) Format. The competition will be held at IOE, Pulchowk Campus.

HACK-A-WEEK

This is a one week software competition held in Pulchowk premises as one of the pre-events of LOCUS. In this, competitors develop a software prototype in a week. Prior to the main week, theme is released and interested apply with details of their idea. Upon proper evaluation, selected ideas are called to compete in the main week. On the last day, presentation and questionnaires of prepared prototype evaluates the winner.

ENERGY HACKATHON

This is a three days energy competition held in Pulchowk premises as one of the pre-events of LOCUS. In this, theme is released and each group is provided a mentor. Competitors brainstorm every possible way to mitigate energy problems. They require facts, data and theories to support their approaches to the problem. On final day, presentation and questionnaires concludes the winner.

DRONACHARYA

This is a drone competition held as one of the main events in LOCUS in Pulchowk premises. Teams participate with their fully functional drone to complete task assigned in the field. It is one of the most attractive aspects of LOCUS and responsible for heavy crowd.

CODE JAM

It is one of the pre-events of LOCUS 2019 in which each team compete to solve problems at hand using algorithms and tricks. Questions are based on programming skills and mathematical approaches.

GAMING COMPETITION

LOCUS 2019 will host gaming competition as well as one of the main events during exhibition. Interested teams can participate and win attractive prizes.

PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE

LOCUS 2019 also presents photography challenge as one of the pre-events. In this, students compete with their best photos and based on judging criteria and public choice, top 20 winners are chosen. Top 20 winners’ photographs will be displayed during exhibition.
